Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot has called upon farmers to embrace diversification of the County distributed promotional crops such as avocado, coffee, macadamia and tissue culture bananas.
He says the crops are sourced from certified nursery operators and free from pests and diseases.
Speaking at a meeting with HCD-AFA and the Departmental officials on Friday, Eng. Barorot said that the County is working towards adding value to avocados as every part of the avocado can be utilized adding that their administration will work to install machines and coolers for peeling and freezing the fruit before it is exported.

Eng. Barorot reiterated the county’s willingness to increase youth’s participation in agriculture through digitization such as the use of an Israeli system that has sensors to check for humidity and automatically adjusts the irrigation system accordingly hence making agriculture more attractive and appealing to the youth.
