Enock Onzanse, a man that was facing murder charges for three of his brother’s children has been sentenced to death by an Eldoret court.
Onzanse, 33, had been accused of killing the three children – Clifford Nyambane (six),
Taniy Nyamweya (five) and Glen Ongaki (three) who were sons of his elder brother James Ratemo Nyambane about 5 years ago.
The children went missing on Saturday, May 13, 2017, as they were heading to a nearby Eldovile SDA Church in Eldoret town – only for their bodies to be found a few days later in River Nzoia – at the border of Uasin Gishu and Kakamega counties.

Postmorterm done of the bodies revealed that they had been strangled to death before their bodies were thrown into the river.
Onzanse had earlier been arrested and charged for the disappearance of the children before the charges were changed to murder after the bodies were found.
In his ruling, delivered on Friday, December 17, 2021, High Court Judge Stephen Githinji said the case against the accused had been proved beyond reasonable doubt by the prosecution.
“The accused was identified by several witnesses as the last person who
was seen with the deceased persons before they met their death,” Justice Githinji said in part of his ruling.

During the hearing of the case in 2018, one of the witnesses told the court that he saw the accused with the three children at the Chepkoilel Matatu stage in Eldoret town on the day they were reported missing.
Onzanse who has been in custody throughout the hearing of the case had denied any involvement in the disappearance and deaths of the three children.
He now has 14 days to appeal against the ruling.
