Residents and businesses in several parts of Eldoret will experience a temporary water supply disruption starting next week as the Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) undertakes routine maintenance at the Chebara Treatment Plant.
In a public notice issued on August 25, 2026, ELDOWAS said the interruption will begin on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. and continue until Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 9:00 p.m.
According to the water utility company, the shutdown is necessary to facilitate essential routine maintenance works aimed at ensuring continued efficiency at the treatment facility.
Areas expected to be affected include Kimumu, the University of Eldoret and surrounding areas; Marakwet Farm, Kapchumba and upper parts of Maili Nne; Munyaka, Kapsoya and Action Estates; Rift Valley Bottlers and Bio-Corn; Upper Elgon View, Eldoret Polytechnic, Annex, Langas, Racecourse and Kapseret; Chepkanga and Marura; Kamukunji, Mwanzo and Old Uganda Road, as well as all customers served along the Chebara–Eldoret pipeline.
ELDOWAS also announced that water bowser services will be unavailable during the maintenance period. However, the company assured residents that other water treatment plants will remain operational to maintain supply in areas not affected by the interruption.
The utility provider apologised for the inconvenience and urged customers in the affected areas to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled shutdown.
“Other water treatment plants will remain operational to ensure the continuity of water supply to unaffected areas,” the notice stated.
The company said it appreciates customers’ understanding as it carries out the maintenance works.
