A section of individuals who claim to have been conned by First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency is set to appear before a Uasin Gishu County Assembly Adhoc committee probing the matter.
The individuals last year petitioned the assembly after what they say is paying thousands of shillings to the agency for jobs at the Qatar World Cup, but none of them travelled.
In a letter to 14 petitioners dated December 16, 2022, the victims have been asked to appear before the committee on January 10, 2022.
“The County Assembly is in receipt of your petition concerning First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency. The County Assembly by a resolution constituted an Adhoc committee to investigate the above subject matter,” read part of the letter signed by Uasin Gishu County Assembly Clerk Shadrack Choge.

“The Adhoc committee hereby invites you on 10th January 2023 at the County Assembly premises from 9.00 am,” Choge added.
Refund job applicants
While appearing before the committee, the petitioners have been asked to carry along relevant documentary evidence.
The victims will be appearing before the committee at a time the agency recently said it had started a process of refunding over 2,000 short-term job applicants that did not travel to Qatar.
It also noted that some of the applicants had been transferred to long-term jobs. However, the move has been questioned by some of the victims.
Some pocked holes into the announcement noting that the agency has since closed down its offices in Eldoret town.
“We have not received any official communication from the agency about refunding our money. We have heard about it on social media,” said Collins Kiptoo one of the victims.

“I doubt they have the intention to repay because I demanded a refund and all they did is write me a postdated cheque. If they are serious let them tell us the place we can go and be refunded,” said another victim.
Each of the individuals paid at least Ksh40,000 for the job.
The Adhoc committee chaired by Ainabkoi/Olare MCA Gilbert Chepkong’a is also probing the County Finland Scholarship program.
