Children being hosted at the Uasin Gishu Rescue Centre in Huruma ward on the outskirts of Eldoret City are set to enjoy a better environment.
This is after the National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss announced plans to renovate several essential areas within the centre.
Speaking during a visit to the facility on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the Uasin Gishu woman rep said the renovation will be undertaken by her Gladys Boss Shollei Foundation in partnership with volunteers from the United States of America (USA).
Among the areas set to be renovated are the Uasin Gishu Rescue Centre’s kitchen, drainage system, and dormitory washrooms.

The legislator also hailed the staff at the facility for their dedication and compassion despite the many challenges they face in taking care of the children.
“Today, I had the honour of making a courtesy visit to the Uasin Gishu Rescue Centre in Huruma Ward, Turbo Constituency. I was deeply moved and inspired by the incredible work being carried out at the centre in rescuing, sheltering, and rehabilitating street children, distressed mothers, and abandoned infants,” the deputy speaker said.
“Despite the many challenges the facility continues to face, the dedication and compassion of the staff remain unwavering. Their commitment to restoring hope and dignity to vulnerable lives is truly commendable,” she added.
The Uasin Gishu Rescue Centre has for years been home to not only street children but also distressed mothers and abandoned children.

“In support of this meaningful mission, the Gladys Boss Shollei Foundation, in partnership with Journey to Africa with Lady T and With GOD Crew (WGC) Inc. volunteers from the United States, will be assisting with the renovation of several essential areas within the center, including the kitchen, drainage system, and dormitory washrooms,” she said.
