Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich alongside Miramas Mayor Frédéric Vigouroux have officially unveiled a House of Coaches physical office in Iten Town.
The House of Coaches is partnership between Elgeyo Marakwet County and the French City of Miramas to train teacher-coaches in every primary, junior and senior secondary school.
Twelve coaches were trained in Miramas, France, and so far, 900 teacher-coaches have been trained countywide.

The Governor and Mayor also met to evaluate the outcomes of the partnership. They also formalized the twinning of Miramas City and Elgeyo Marakwet County, which will allow schools and communities to communicate directly.
During the interactions on Wednesday , May 12, 2026, the County boss informed the Mayor that during the recent national athletics championship, Elgeyo Marakwet produced two top students from Kondabilet and Kimuron Secondary Schools, whose coaches were part of the House of Coaches program.
He added that in August, eight more students will be heading to Arusha for this year’s East Africa Primary and Secondary Schools Championships, the highest number of athletes from the County to participate in such games.

Present at the meeting were Deputy Governor Prof.Grace Cheserek, Ali Nadia, Deputy Mayor, City of Miramas, Roy Nasie (French Foreign Affairs office), and Simon Ravlin (French Embassy), as well as CECs Michael Kibiwott and Purity Koima, COs Paul Ruto and Lorna Kipsang, and other county staff.
