The national government has committed to bringing all stakeholders on board so as to explore innovative strategies that will see the fight against Tuberculosis (TB) successful by 2030.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi says the Kenya Kwanza government will ensure Kenyans get access to safe, affordable and quality medical attention.
Speaking at Huruma Grounds in Eldoret during the marking of World TB Day, Mudavadi further said the government’s intention is to ensure it has the capacity for timely disease surveillance, tracing, screening, diagnosis, prevention and treatment to mitigate infections.

“We will expedite the process of the County Referral Hospital construction which will boost the health service deliveries in partnerships with all stakeholders,” he said.
NHIF fees
On her part, Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha revealed plans by the Kenya Kwanza government to reduce the cost of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) from Ksh500 to Ksh300.
Reduction of NHIF fees, the CS says, will ensure more Kenyans are accommodated in the national medical cover.
Meanwhile, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim expressed gratitude to the National Government and all stakeholders for championing the fight against TB and for motive towards uplifting Uasin Gishu Health Sector.
He also pledged to capture all financial needs in the county budget, having procured for the advancement of existing health facilities and construction of new ones to provide a safe working environment to help speed up measures to improve health service deliveries.

“Uasin Gishu is the leading county in the screening and treatment of TB in Kenya. We are also taking every criterion to minimize the spread of infections and ensuring necessary medication attention to all people that are affected,” Bii added.
