Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has affirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the health sector for better services to citizens.
Speaking during a meeting with the local and global health stakeholders among them; USAID-AMPATH, ElsMed, Siemens and others on Thursday evening, Governor Bii assured that the enhancement of health facilities was part of Nguzo Kumi agenda for easy access to affordable, and high-quality health services to the residents.
“We want to make Uasin Gishu a health Hub in Kenya so that other counties can learn from us. This is why we plan to begin the construction of our county hospital which will help reduce congestion in our hospitals and speed up the diagnosis and treatment process in hospitals.”
“This way, we shall ensure every patient is attended to at the right time and be subjected to necessary medication, this way, we shall transform the economy and I believe God will help us in achieving this,” he said.

The County Boss further noted that the initiative will boost the health standards and promote the living standards of the residents.
Partnership
He urged stakeholders to join forces, saying the county is in full support by giving education to the residents, capacity building for the health staff, as well as improving medical equipment for diagnosis and increasing health facilities across the county.
This, Bii said will propel medical attention to see killer diseases like TB at its knees.
On his part, ElseMed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yaron Farachi expressed his joy for the support of the county and other partners in the fight against TB and other diseases.

He said ElseMed is determined to make Uasin Gishu the number one medical hub not only in Kenya but also in East Africa.
Farachi further said this will be achieved through the planned introduction and usage of drones in sending and receiving samples, results and drugs which is quite timely.
