Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Monday, December 8, 2025, commissioned medical equipment worth KSh 30 million at the Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The equipment were donated by Unlimited Gospel Ministries under US-based Bishop Warren, in a move expected to bolster healthcare services across the county.
Natembeya praised the church-government partnership, saying the ministry had honoured its commitments under an earlier memorandum of understanding.
“Many friends visit my office but never return. This ministry fulfilled its word,” he said.

The governor said the county had built new health facilities including Tom Mboya Mother and Child Hospital, Kwanza Sub-County Hospital, and Matunda and Kachibora hospitals since 2022, but noted many still require equipping. He said the donated tools would help operationalise the facilities “soon”.
Why Trans Nzoia hospitals might start charging patients
Natembeya criticised delays by the national government in releasing Social Health Authority (SHA) reimbursements, warning that counties may be forced to ask patients to pay cash for services.
He said hospitals are owed millions and continue to face shortages of nurses, doctors and clinical officers due to limited resources for recruitment. He assured residents of continued investment at Wamalwa Kijana Hospital, including plans for an amenity wing.
Finance and Economic Planning CECM Dr Wanjala Pepela and Health CECM Lorot Kerior welcomed the collaboration between the county and faith-based organisations led by Bishop Warren, urging other well-wishers to extend similar support.
Hospital Board Chair Prof Ferdinand Nang’ole said the donation includes bariatric, paediatric, ICU and birthing beds, as well as wheelchairs for both Wamalwa Kijana Hospital and sub-county facilities.

He commended the county administration for strengthening equipment programmes and pushing towards top-tier healthcare aligned with the universal health coverage agenda.
Prof Nang’ole also announced the appointment of Dr Lilian Lipesa as the new medical superintendent and urged staff to support her leadership.
Unlimited Gospel Ministries representative Bishop Rutto said the partnership is anchored on goodwill and a shared vision.
“My work today is to hand over this equipment,” he said, adding that the collaboration between the church and health professionals was essential.
“We need one another spiritual guidance must go together with practical action.”
