Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has called on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to cut ties with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, warning that they are leading him “down the political cliff.”
In a Facebook post on Thursday, August 20, 2026, Kaluma told Sifuna he has “great potential, but need experience to lead at the top” and accused Gachagua and Uhuru of giving him “wrong company.”
“Gachagua and Uhuru are currently leading you the wrong direction and have given you wrong company. Gachagua and Uhuru are pushing you fast and hard down the political cliff. They will crush you before you blossom. The fruits that ripen fast also rot faster,” Kaluma wrote.

Kaluma referenced events in Homa Bay on August 16, accusing Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Siaya Governor James Orengo of bringing “dreaded murderers and violent robbers” to the county.
“Did you see those dreaded murderers and violent robbers Babu and Orengo brought to Homa Bay on 16th? Did you see the weapons they carried around? How do you feel being seen surrounded by murderers like Olivetti and those violent robbers Babu and Orengo had around you on 16th August!” he asked.
The MP claimed the two leaders, acting on the instructions and with the funding of Uhuru Kenya had sought to damage relations between the Luo and Luhya communities.
“The Luos and Luyhas are the most friendly neighbors in Kenya… And yet it is this relationship Babu and Orengo targeted to damage on 16th on the instructions and with the funding of Uhuru Kenya,” he said. “They prepared the ground to be hostile to you by persistent provocation and incitement of the people then brought you in the company of dreaded hardcore criminals.”
Kaluma added that Homa Bay residents are peaceful and never fight over political differences,” and that Sifuna would have been well received had he come without Babu and Orengo.
Should Sifuna return to ODM?
The MP urged Sifuna to “rethink your political life and return to the ODM Party under Dr. Oburu Oginga” and to rejoin the Broad-Based Government.
“Return to the Broad Based Government fold asap and let’s join hands in fighting for a better Kenya in which all peoples and regions are treated and developed equally. President William Ruto is doing it. Let’s support him,” Kaluma stated.
Sifuna, an immediate former ODM Secretary General, has in recent months been seen aligning with Gachagua and Uhuru in opposition activities.
Neither Sifuna, Babu Owino, nor Orengo had responded to Kaluma’s remarks by press time.
