Uasin Gishu Governor Dr Jonathan Bii has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare after flagging off medical supplies worth Ksh 28 million, destined for the county’s six sub-county hospitals.
Speaking during the flag-off event, Governor Dr Bii said the supplies will ensure that all high-volume health facilities remain well-stocked as the festive season approaches—a period when the demand for medical services traditionally increases.
“Today, we received and flagged off medical supplies worth Ksh 28 million, destined for our six sub-county hospitals. This first batch is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that all our health facilities remain adequately stocked as we enter the festive season,” the county boss said.
He further announced that a second consignment worth Ksh 40 million is expected to arrive on Monday, November 10, 2025. This batch will be distributed to dispensaries and health centres across the county, extending the benefits of the initiative to grassroots communities.
In addition, the governor urged residents to remain vigilant and to make use of the county’s healthcare services, especially during the festive period and the ongoing season of rites of passage.
“We urge our residents to promptly report any medical complications during this season of rites of passage. A dedicated response team has been established to provide timely care and prevent avoidable loss of life among our young people,” he added.
The governor’s move underscores his administration’s proactive approach to strengthening the county’s healthcare delivery system, ensuring that no facility runs short of essential medical supplies when residents need them most.
As the county braces for the holiday season, the timely distribution of medicines and equipment marks a significant step towards achieving accessible, reliable, and quality healthcare for all.
County Executive Committee Member for Health Services, Joseph Lagat, reaffirmed the county’s focus on improving healthcare efficiency and ensuring that essential medicines and commodities reach all service points.
“We are strengthening supply chains and monitoring systems to make sure that every facility is equipped and no ward goes without essential drugs,” said Lagat.
On his part, Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health, Dr Paul Wangwe, commended healthcare workers for their dedication and urged continued collaboration between the public and the health department to uphold the highest standards of care.
“The cooperation between our teams and the community remains key in sustaining effective healthcare delivery,” he noted.
The distribution of medical supplies reflects Governor Dr. Bii’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access and preparedness as the county enters the festive season—ensuring that no patient is left unattended and every facility remains ready to serve.
