National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss on Saturday officiated the 2025 United for Cancer Warrior Run and Walk.
The event was meant to create cancer awareness and raise funds for the briquettes’ making project used to support vulnerable cancer warriors.
It was organised by the Solance Cancer Foundation Kenya in partnership with the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Eldoret.

“Honored to have officiated Run & Walk 2025 at Mother of Apostle Seminary, Eldoret—a powerful stand for cancer awareness and support for our warriors,” the Uasin Gishu County Woman Member of Parliament said.
“Heartfelt thank you to sponsors, volunteers and every warrior in pink,” she added.
Hundreds turned up for the event held on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Cancer is the third leading cause of death in Kenya after infectious and cardiovascular diseases. In 2020, over (42,000) new cases were reported, leading to nearly (27,000) deaths.
The five most prevalent cancers are breast, cervical, prostate, esophageal, and colorectal cancers.

Cancer affects women more frequently, with breast and cervical cancers being particularly common.
Esophageal cancer is particularly common in certain regions of Kenya, possibly due to factors like the consumption of hot beverages and tobacco, and the use of charcoal for cooking.
