Governor Jonathan Bii Leads Uasin Gishu Elders, MCAs and Clergy in Visiting Raila Odinga’s Family

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim on Friday, October 24, 2025, led a delegation from the county in visiting the family of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The delegation which included Members of County Assembly (MCAs), elders and the clergy visited Raila’s grave at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County.

They also met with for former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader’s wife Ida Odinga.

I led a delegation of clergy, elders, and MCAs from Uasin Gishu to Kang’o Ka Jaramogi and Opoda Farm to extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and to stand in solidarity with Mama Ida Odinga during this solemn moment of national reflection,” Bii posted on his social media pages.

He also noted that Raila who died on October 15, 2025, while undergoing treatment in India will be remembered as a towering statesman whose deep conviction in democracy and transformative role in anchoring devolution strengthened the foundations of our governance.

His vision, resilience, and principled leadership reshaped Kenya’s political path and inspired generations across our nation,” he added.

Since Raila’s burial, leaders from across the country have been visiting the family to cindole with them.

A group of Kalenjin elders and elected leaders had also visited the family to deliver 80 bulls before the burial.

Leaders from the Luhya and Kikuyu communities have also extended and similar gesture to the family.
