Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya Friday reshuffled his cabinet, in a move that seeks to improve service delivery.
The decision however comes amidst an impeachment motion against three Cabinet Executive Committee Members (CECM) and the County Secretary.
In the reshuffle, Truphosa Amere, the first female County Secretary of Trans Nzoia County will now serve as the Health County Executive Committee Member (CECM) while Lands CECM Janerose Mutama has been picked as the County Secretary.
Educationist, Patrick Gacheru, who has been serving as Water and Environment CECM assumes the Trade and Industry Department head role that was being held by Stanley Kirui.
Kirui has been deployed to head the Education and Technical Training docket.
And in what is perceived as a promotion, Dr Pepela Wanjala who has been the Health and Sanitation Executive will now handle the lucrative Finance and Economic Planning docket.
In other changes, Boniface Wanyonyi who held the Finance portfolio will be in charge of the very sensitive Lands, Housing, and Urban Development department.
Samson Ojwang who served as Education and Technical CECM, is the new CECM in charge of Water and Environment.
Trans Nzoia Chief Officers’s reshuffle
The reshuffle has also affected eight Chief Officers and the appointment of an extra Chief Officer following a successful recruitment process.
Patrick Osoro of Lands will now be the accounting officer in the Livestock and Cooperative Development department while Sammy Sichangi, the Chief officer in the office of Governor Natembeya has been moved to Agriculture.
His position will be taken by Dr. Emmanuel Wanjala who moves from the Health Services and Sanitation.
Emmanuel Masungo, the Economic Planning Chief Officer has also been transferred to Finance in the same capacity while Ashton Mulupi has been deployed to Education and Technical Training.
Omari Ndiema moves from Agriculture to Economic Planning, as Dr. Judith Simiyu moves from Corporate Health Services to Health Services and Sanitation.
Joseph Wasike has been appointed as the Chief Officer for Roads and Transport. His appointment will however be subject to the approval of the Trans Nzoia County Assembly.
In a notice seen by Uasin Gishu News, the changes take effect immediately.
