Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has warned 16 newly appointed Chief Officers against corruption, procurement irregularities and mismanagement of public funds.
He said they will be held accountable for the resources entrusted to their respective departments.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at the County Headquarters, Natembeya challenged the officers to prioritise service delivery, uphold integrity and resist attempts by individuals seeking to influence their decisions for personal gain.
“Your boss should be service delivery,” the Governor declared, urging the officers to focus on improving the lives of residents rather than using their positions to accumulate wealth.

Natembeya’s warning to Chief Officers
He reminded the Chief Officers that they were accounting officers responsible for the management of public resources in their departments and would be required to explain their decisions before oversight institutions, including the Senate.
“Those who will be called to the Senate should be able to answer all the questions being asked. I will not carry anybody’s burdens anymore,” he said, warning that every officer must take personal responsibility for their actions and decisions.
The Governor said he had previously warned Chief Officers in his administration that unresolved audit queries could jeopardise their continued service, adding that some former office holders had left after accumulating numerous audit queries.
Meanwhile, the county boss congratulated the 16 appointees, assuring them that the recruitment process had followed the required procedures after the expiry of the contracts of their predecessors.
