Headcount for Uasin Gishu County Staff Imminent – Koti Moja

/

Uasin Gishu County is planning to initiate a head count for all its staff.

Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja says the headcount exercise is meant to ascertain the number of staff that the county has.

Speaking during his first meeting with all the staff at the county headquarters in Eldoret town on Friday, September 2, 2022, Koti Moja also said his administration will conduct a Human Resource (HR) audit.

It is common to a new administration. You know we have people who will always say we have ghost workers so to prove them wrong, we must do the headcount. So always be at your work station or else you will be counted as a ghost worker,” the governor said.

However, he assured that he will work with all staff to ensure efficient and effective service delivery to the people.

Further, Koti Moja said his administration will be looking into all staff issues such as promotions, provision of uniforms for all the staff and other welfare issues.

I have asked my DG to look into all issues of HR and ICT to ensure we have a motivated workforce focused on service delivery for our people,” he added.

The county boss also pointed out that he will have all staff designated to work in the Sub County and Ward work there as “devolution was meant to have our services reach the people.”

Health sector

On issues about the Health sector, the Uasin Gishu County boss said he has already held discussions with Ampath to reopen Revolving Fund Pharmacies in the county hospitals.

The pharmacies were closed in 2019 in what Health County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Dr Evelyne Rotich said they had breached a Memorandum of Understanding by stocking drugs that had not been agreed upon.

There were at least 60 Revolving Fund Pharmacies which stocked drugs for chronic diseases among them tuberculosis, cancer, diabetes, and High Blood Pressure among others.

Additionally, Governor Koti Moja said he will be reviewing a policy on drug distribution to ensure the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) delivers drugs to county Hospitals directly.

We will keep the buffer stocks only at the Central stores,” he noted.
