The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) on Sunday night announced the inception of the Lomé (Togo) – Nairobi (Kenya) route by ASKY Airlines.
Arrival of the first flight by the airline sets the pace for it establishing a pivotal direct link between the vibrant regions of West and East Africa.
The inaugural flight touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Sunday night.
It was received by KAA Board Chairman Caleb Kositany, as well as Chairman Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) Dr. Joseph Kithitu.

During the reception, Kositany shared insightful remarks about the future, unveiling ambitious plans by KAA for the constructing a new and modern terminal at JKIA.
Africa’s premier hub
“This significant move reflects Kenya’s unwavering commitment to elevating JKIA’s role as Africa’s premier hub, serving as the optimal gateway to and from East and Central Africa,” noted the KAA board chairperson.
Further, ASKY Airlines prides itself on its extensive network, offering seamless connections to diverse destinations including Abidjan, Abuja, Accra, Bamako, Bangui, Bissau, Beirut, Brazzaville, Conakry, Cotonou, Dakar, Douala, Freetown, Kinshasa, Lagos, Libreville, Monrovia, N’Djamena, Niamey, Ouagadougou, Pointe Noire, and Yaounde.

JKIA is the flagship airport of The KAA. The airport boasts of over 40 passenger airlines and 25 cargo airlines.
Originally named Embakasi Airport, the airport’s name was changed in 1978 after Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya’s first President and Prime Minister.
It is also Kenya’s largest aviation facility, and the busiest airport in East Africa.
As of 2016, the airport served over 7 million passengers, making it the seventh busiest airport in passenger traffic on the continent.
