Inside President Ruto’s Four-Day Development Tour of Western Kenya Starting Monday, March 16

President William Ruto will undertake a four-day development tour of Western Kenya beginning on Monday, March 16, 2026.

The President will visit Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Bungoma counties, inspecting ongoing projects and launching others during the intensive visit.

He will begin in Busia County, breaking ground for the construction of roads and stadia, and inspecting ongoing works at affordable housing and modern market projects, among others, in Budalang’i, Matayos, Teso South and Teso North constituencies.

Roads whose construction will be launched include Mundere Okando-Sio Port-Nangina (Budalang’i Constituency), Matayos-Namusira-Nasewa, and Matayos-Nangina-Sio-Port-Mubaka projects.

He will also lay the foundation stone for the Budalang’i Modern Market, inspect the Funyula Affordable Housing Project and break ground for the construction of Busia Stadium.

Which projects will Ruto launch in Kakamega County?

In Kakamega County, President Ruto will commission rural electrification projects and inspect ongoing affordable housing, water and sanitation projects in Navakholo, Mumias East, Ikolomani, Malava, Lurambi, and Khwisero constituencies.

The President will visit Nderema (Navakholo), Malaa (Mumias East) and Ebutani Junction (Khwisero) rural electrification projects.

Additionally, he will also lay the foundation stone for the Malaha Modern Market (Navakholo), and commission the Lurambi and Kakamega Phase 2 affordable housing projects.

The President will also tour Bungoma County, where he will commission the construction of modern markets, rural electrification and water projects, classrooms, and an airstrip in Mt Elgon, Kabuchai, and Kanduyi constituencies.

Some of the projects are: the Cheptais Modern Market, last-mile electricity connectivity, and building of classrooms at Toroso Primary School.

Others are the Chesikaki Water Supply Project, Chwele-Kibabii Water Project, the Chwele Modern Market and Kanduyi Airstrip.

In Vihiga County, President Ruto will break ground for the construction of Kidundu Sports Stadium and inspect ongoing works at the local affordable housing project in Vihiga Constituency.

He will also lay the foundation stone for the Mbale Modern Market in Sabatia Constituency.
