Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Willy Kenei has outlined plans to invest in youth talent and the education sector, saying deliberate investment is needed to unlock the county’s potential.
Kenei on Thursday, September 24, 2026, held two separate consultative meetings in Eldoret with content creators and Junior Secondary School teachers from Turbo Constituency.
In his meeting with content creators, Kenei said his administration would establish talent academies across the county to offer training and mentorship in music, film, photography, digital content creation, sports and other creative industries.
He noted that the county is already endowed with skilled young people who lack platforms to commercialize their skills.
“We have the talent. We have the potential. What we need is deliberate investment and opportunities to turn talent into sustainable livelihoods,” Kenei said.
He added that his vision is anchored on creating sustainable livelihoods from creativity.
“I believe Uasin Gishu is blessed with immense talent, especially among our young people, and we must create the right platforms to identify, nurture and empower that talent,” he said.

Later in the day, Kenei met JSS teachers at Juakali in Turbo Constituency, where he discussed challenges facing the new education level and his agenda for strengthening education.
He said teachers must be at the centre of education reforms, noting that their input is critical in shaping workable solutions.
“Our teachers understand the realities in our classrooms. Their voices are important in shaping practical solutions that improve learning,” he said.
