Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago will continue serving as the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Health.
Mandago, who has been serving in the position since the committee’s establishment after the 2022 General Election was re-elected to the position on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
His deputy Mariam Sheikh Omar was also re-elected for another term of two years.
“Senator Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu) and Senator Mariam Sheikh Omar (Nominated) have been re-elected as Chairperson and Vice Chairperson respectively of the Senate Standing Committee on Health. The two leaders who previously held the same positions will continue steering the nine-member Committee,” noted a communication from the Senate.

Other members of the committee are Senators David Wakoli, Tabitha Mutinda, Joseph Githuku, Justice (Rtd.) Stewart Madzayo, Ledama Olekina, Richard Onyonka and Hamida Kibwana.

Meanwhile, nominated Senator Prof Margaret Kamar has also landed a new leadership role. Prof Kamar from Uasin Gishu was elected the vice chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Education.
She was elected unopposed to the seat previously held by Senator Peris Tobico.
Prof Kamar who is also an educationist and a former Senator of Uasin Gishu will deputise nominated Senator Senator Betty Montet.

Mondet takes over from Senator Joe Nyutu.
“Senator Betty Montet (Nominated) and Senator Prof. Margaret Kamar (Nominated) have been Elected unopposed as Chairperson and Vice Chairperson respectively of the Senate Standing Committee on Education. The two leaders take over from their predecessors Sen. Joe Nyutu who was the former Chair and Sen. Peris Tobiko the former Vice Chair,” a communication from the Senate said.
Other members of the Senate Standing Committee on Education are Senators Seki Lenku Ole Kanar, James Kamau Murango, Nderitu John Kinyua, John Methu, Catherine Mumma, Johnes Mwaruma as well as Agnes Kavindu Muthama.
