The committee planning the burial of the International Vision Centre (IVC) founder, Apostle Joseph Likavo, has issued an update on when he will be laid to rest.
Likavo, who died on December 18, 2025, while undergoing treatment in the United States of America, had been scheduled to be laid to rest this week.
However, following what the committee said were logistical challenges, the burial has now been rescheduled for next week.
In a statement posted on the IVC social media pages on Thursday, January 1, 2025, the church said there are ongoing efforts to get clearance from the embassy for the transportation of the apostle’s body.
“The family and the funeral planning committee wish to inform the church and the general public that the burial date and memorial service set for Eldoret of our departed spiritual father, Apostle Joseph Likavo, has been rescheduled to next week,” read part of the statement signed by Rev Paul Muhuha, the IVC General Secretary.
“This has been necessitated by unforeseen logistical issues,” he added.

Rev. Muhuha also appreciated the interventions made by government leaders to obtain clearance from the Kenyan embassy in the US.
The clearance, he said, happened on Monday, December 29, 2025.
He assured the church and the public that they will soon communicate in finality the burial date.
“We are doing our best to communicate with finality at the earliest on the actual date of interment,” the church said.
“If it were within our power, we would have maintained the status quo,” it added.
