The Kaburwo Council of Elders has successfully conducted its election exercise, marking an important milestone in its five-year leadership transition process.
The exercise, conducted in Kapsabet Town on Friday, April 24, 2026, was witnessed by the Nandi County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Gender, Culture and Social Welfare, Scolastica Tuwei, who commended the elders for conducting a peaceful, transparent, and dignified process.
The CECM also congratulated the newly elected leadership team and expressed appreciation to the outgoing officials for their dedication and collaboration with the department, particularly in advancing cultural programmes and strengthening community cohesion.

Kaptel/Kamoiywo Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Josphat Bett, who was also present, encouraged the elders to remain steadfast in their role as custodians of culture and pillars of wisdom within the community.
He further emphasized the importance of unity, integrity, and mentorship, urging the incoming leadership to work cohesively, guide the younger generation, and support development initiatives at the grassroots level.

The elections ushered in the following leaders to steer the Kaburwo Council of Elders:
- Chairperson: Elder Augustine Kisorio
- Vice Chair: Elder John Yego
- Treasurer: Elder Mourisin Arap Kogo
- Secretary: Elder Joel Kitur
- Assistant Secretary: Elder Stephen Sitienei
- Organising Secretary: Elder Dr. David Kiprop

Elder Joel Kitur, the outgoing Chairperson, was recognized for his exemplary leadership as well as dedicated service during his tenure.
Also present were the Nandi County Director of Gender and Social Welfare, the Deputy Director Kibet Ruto, and other officers from the County Department of Gender, Culture and Social Welfare.
