The County Government of Uasin Gishu has issued a directive requiring all property owners within Eldoret City to repaint and maintain the external appearance of their buildings as part of a citywide beautification drive.
In a public notice released on Friday, August 7, 2026, the City of Eldoret Management said the initiative aims “to promote a clean, safe, orderly and aesthetically appealing urban environment.”
The directive, the city board said, applies to owners of commercial, residential, institutional, industrial, and mixed-use buildings.
According to the notice, property owners must “repaint faded, peeling, stained or weathered external walls using durable, high-quality paint” and “repair cracked walls, damaged plaster, loose fittings, gutters and other defective exterior features before repainting.”
The city administration has given a 90-day compliance period from the date of publication, after which inspections will be conducted. Those who fail to comply will face enforcement under the Urban Areas and Cities Act, the Physical and Land Use Planning Act, the Public Health Act, and other relevant county laws.
The notice also encourages residents to take advantage of a fee waiver, stating that the county “calls upon all property owners and stakeholders to take advantage of the 100% waiver of repainting approval fees and support this initiative in creating a modern, clean and attractive city.”
City Manager’s office said the exercise is part of Eldoret’s urban renewal program aimed at enhancing property values and improving the city’s image for residents, visitors, and investors.
