The construction of the modern Kapsabet Town Bus Park has officially commenced following the formal handover of the project site to the contractor, marking a major milestone in the transformation of Kapsabet Municipality into a modern, organized and investment-ready urban centre.
Costing KSh 272 million, the project is being undertaken by Maxfol Enterprises Limited, is being implemented in collaboration with the State Department of Housing and Urban Development, alongside other County and National Government stakeholders.
The project is expected to be completed within the contracted period, with the contractor committing to work towards completing the works within six months against the one-year contract period.
Capacity of modern Kapsabet Town Bus Park
The modern facility will provide 143 matatu parking bays, 24 bus bays and 45 mini-bus slots, as well as three passenger shades, booking and parcel offices, motorcycle shades, pedestrian walkways and two public toilets.
Other facilities will include a generator, a 30-metre high mast, water points, waste collection points, boundary walls, acceleration lanes, fire-fighting equipment, drainage and landscaping works.

Speaking during the handover, Kapsabet Municipality Manager Alfayo Lel appreciated the collaboration and support from the State Department of Housing and Urban Development, the County Government and other stakeholders.
He also acknowledged the challenges earlier faced by the stakeholders and assured them that the Municipality is ready to provide the necessary support and coordination to ensure successful completion.
How modern bus park will transform Kapsabet Town
The Area MCA, Hon. Matata, described the project as a major step towards transforming Kapsabet, noting that a modern bus park will improve transport management, create employment and business opportunities, attract more investors and enhance the appearance of the town.
He called on all leaders and partners to support the project for the benefit of residents.
Representing State department of Housing, Engineer Meshack assured stakeholders of the contractor’s commitment to delivering quality works and working towards completing the project ahead of the contractual timeline.
The handover was witnessed by CECM Engineer Limo who applauded the efforts done and reiterated the support from all the stakeholders.

Chairman of Nandi Matatu Sacco emphasized on the need to have the modern park as it will improve traffic flow, enhance passenger safety and comfort, provide better working and trading spaces, strengthen sanitation and waste management, and create an enabling environment for businesses and investors.
