Elvis Kiptoo is a youth who recently completed school and is already taking up manual jobs at the Chebarus Water Project under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action Program (FLLOCA) in Uasin Gishu County.
Kiptoo says the water project has made a tangible impact on his home, presenting him with a new opportunity to generate income.
With water now accessible from the Chebarus project in Megun Ward, Kapseret Sub-County, he is preparing to start farming as a new livelihood.

Kapseret Sub-County Climate Change Unit Officer Geofrey Rono acknowledges that the project has successfully achieved its goal of mitigating climate change.
The installation of a 24,000-litre steel tank, solar-powered systems, and a 1 km distribution line will provide water access to up to 500 households in the area.
The project also addresses water scarcity for Momoniat Primary School, which serves over 600 students, as well as for Lamaiywet Catholic Church and the Chebarus SDA Church.
Kapseret Sub-County Water Engineer Bob Busungu commends the excellent workmanship executed by the contractor, while Linus Kurgat, a Climate Change Committee member in Megun Ward, describes the water storage system as a game-changer.

He notes that it will significantly improve water access during the dry season, as locals have already begun irrigation projects on their farms.
This project is not only contributing to the community’s water security but also creating new opportunities for self-employment and sustainable livelihoods in Kapseret.
