The national carrier, Kenya Airways, has announced the return of its Boeing 737-800 to scheduled commercial service.
This is the second of three narrow-body aircraft that KQ is progressively reintroducing into its fleet, marking a key operational milestone for the airline.
The aircraft was flagged off at the airline’s hangar on December 24, 2025, reinforcing KQ’s steady progress in restoring capacity and strengthening operational readiness ahead of the peak festive travel period.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Teresia Mbaika, emphasized the importance of a resilient aviation sector.

She also reaffirmed continued government support focused on operational enablement and improved fleet availability.
Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Capt. George Kamal, noted that “the return reflects the discipline, professionalism, and technical excellence of our engineering, operations, and safety teams.”
He further noted that the Boeing 737-800 strengthens their schedule reliability and reinforcing customer confidence.
“We remain focused on execution, consistency, and building momentum as we position the airline for a stronger and more sustainable year ahead,” Kamai added.
