Kenya Association of Manufacturers Board Elects Hitesh Mediratta as Its New Chairperson

The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) Board has elected Hitesh Mediratta as its chairperson. He will lead the Association for a two-year term.

Mediratta, who has served as the Association’s Vice Chairperson since 2024, succeeds Jane Karuku, whose tenure as Chairperson has come to an end. In his address, Mediratta reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the competitiveness of Kenya’s manufacturing sector and positioning the industry as a key driver of economic growth.

I am honoured to serve as Chairperson of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers at a defining moment for Kenya’s manufacturing sector. While global uncertainties continue to shape trade, supply chains and global investment shifts, they also present an opportunity for Kenya and Africa to strengthen regional value chains, increase local value addition and unlock the full potential of manufacturing as a driver of economic growth and industrialisation,” he said.

He also shared his vision for the next two years, saying, “My priority will be to build on KAM’s strong legacy of advocacy by creating a level playing field that enhances the competitiveness of Kenyan manufacturers both locally and globally. We shall continue to champion equitable value chains where all manufacturers have an opportunity to compete, grow and thrive, while advancing practical, evidence-based solutions to longstanding policy and tax challenges. We shall also continue engaging government and industry stakeholders to advance reforms that support industrial expansion, unlock new opportunities and deliver outcomes that create lasting value for manufacturers while contributing to Kenya’s industrialisation agenda.

Mediratta is the Managing Director of PG Bison Kenya Limited, a leading furniture manufacturer, a position he has held for the past 21 years. He has been an active member of KAM, previously serving as Chairperson of the Timber and Furniture Sector, Vice Chair of the Trade and Tax Board Committee and a KAM Board Director since 2020.

Throughout his leadership within KAM, Mediratta has championed a value chain approach to policy and taxation, advocating for practical, consensus-driven solutions that strengthen Kenya’s manufacturing ecosystem while supporting sustainable industrial growth.

Who is the new Kenya Association of Manufacturers deputy chairperson?

Mary-Ann Musangi, Managing Director of HACO Industries Kenya Limited, will deputise Mediratta as the Board Vice Chairperson. Musangi currently chairs KAM’s Women in Manufacturing (WIM) Programme, where she has championed initiatives that promote women’s leadership, mentorship, skills development and greater participation in the manufacturing sector.

She brings extensive experience in manufacturing and business leadership and will support the Association in driving its strategic priorities.

The outgoing Chairperson, Ms Jane Karuku, Group Managing Director of East African Breweries PLC (EABL), will remain an Ex-Officio member of the KAM Board, where she will continue to provide strategic guidance and support the Association’s leadership.
