Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) hosted a German delegation under the African Skills for Germany Initiative on July 8, 2026, to explore opportunities for strengthening healthcare training and expanding international career pathways for graduates.
The delegation was led by Dagmar von Bohnstein, the Delegate of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa and Bavarian Representative for East Africa.
During the visit, the delegation received an overview of KMTC’s approach to health professions education, including classroom instruction, practical learning, clinical preparation and skills development. The team also toured training facilities at Nairobi Campus, including the skills laboratory and simulation laboratories, where students build clinical competencies through practical exercises that reflect real healthcare settings.

How KMTC is preparing its graduates for opportunities in Kenya and abroad
Speaking during the engagement, KMTC Chief Executive Officer Dr Kelly Oluoch said the College remains committed to building partnerships that prepare graduates for opportunities in Kenya and abroad.
“As an institution committed to producing globally competitive health professionals, we are keen on building collaborations that expand opportunities for our graduates while maintaining high standards of training and ethical practice,” Dr Oluoch said.
Ms. von Bohnstein welcomed the engagement, noting the value of closer collaboration between training institutions and employers.
“The visit has given us an opportunity to understand KMTC’s training model and practical preparation. We see strong potential for collaboration in developing sustainable pathways that connect qualified Kenyan health professionals with opportunities in Germany,” she said.

KMTC-German partnership
The visit builds on previous engagements between KMTC and German partners. In October 2025, KMTC participated in the ‘From Nairobi to Nürnberg’ initiative, which brought together the College, AHK Eastern Africa, the German Embassy, Goethe-Institut Nairobi, Kenya’s labour and diaspora institutions, Kiambu National Polytechnic and the Nürnberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
KMTC Gatundu Campus also hosted a sensitisation session for Physiotherapy students on employment opportunities in Germany, including recruitment requirements, language preparation and workplace integration.
In March 2026, KMTC hosted a delegation from the African Business Community to discuss language training, ethical recruitment, professional preparation and integration into Germany’s healthcare system.
These engagements have already contributed to employment opportunities for KMTC graduates, with Physiotherapy graduates securing placements in Germany and more candidates being prepared for recruitment.
