Kenya is making progress in containing the Ebola outbreak, with no new cases reported in the last 10 days, following coordinated interventions by the Ministry of Health, County Governments and development partners.
Speaking during the 9th Ebola Taskforce meeting on Friday, October 30, 2026, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni said the joint efforts had helped contain community transmission and prevent further spread of the virus.
Kenya has so far recorded nine cases and two deaths, with identified contacts still under isolation, quarantine and surveillance. PS Muthoni noted that those responding well to the interventions are expected to be progressively released, with all contacts expected to complete surveillance by November 11.

She, however, cautioned that the country remains vigilant and continues to strengthen surveillance, particularly at Points of Entry, while urging Kenyans to observe health protocols, including avoiding unnecessary handshakes and hugs.
The meeting brought together representatives from County Governments, development partners and other government agencies to review the response and strengthen coordination.
Earlier this week, the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret said it had released all 10 individuals who had been in quarantine. One of the 10 was in the same place as the first Ebola patient who died in the country, while others had Ebola-related signs.
“All tests were negative, and they have been allowed to reunite with their families. For now, we have no confirmed Ebola case at our facility,” MTRH Chief Executive Officer Dr Phillip Kirwa told journalists at the hospital in Eldoret.
