Kenyan Ministry of Health Strengthens Cooperation with Kenya–United Kingdom Health Alliance

The Ministry of Health has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral health cooperation with the Kenya–United Kingdom Health Alliance (KUKHA).

This is even as preparations intensify for the upcoming Commonwealth Health Ministers Meeting and the World Health Assembly (WHA) in 2026.

Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, on Monday, October 27, 2025, hosted Jeremy Lefroy, Chair of KUKHA, accompanied by Coordinator John Guto and Dr. William Motende (MoH), at Afya House.

Lefroy congratulated Dr. Oluga on his appointment and reiterated KUKHA’s continued commitment to advancing collaboration in health between Kenya and the United Kingdom.

The meeting underscored the enduring partnership between the two countries, with discussions focusing on KUKHA’s fifth anniversary celebrations in 2026, joint resource mobilization, and preparations for a side event during the Commonwealth Health Ministers Meeting in Geneva next May.

Dr. Oluga reaffirmed the Ministry’s strong support for KUKHA’s initiatives, noting the Alliance’s key role in strengthening Kenya’s health workforce development and promoting health diplomacy.

He further emphasised that upcoming engagements provide an opportunity to showcase Kenya’s leadership in health system reforms and deepen global partnerships for sustainable health outcomes.

The meeting also highlighted plans to support the fifth-year KUKHA anniversary celebration in London, aligning it with Kenya’s efforts to bring health to the centre of global dialogue during the Commonwealth and WHA sessions.

This engagement reinforces Kenya’s commitment to international health partnerships that foster innovation, capacity building, and knowledge exchange, ensuring stronger and more resilient health systems for both nations.
