Uasin Gishu County Hospital has begun validating its Strategic Plan 2026-2031, a blueprint aimed at improving patient care and positioning the facility for long-term growth.

The validation exercise brings together county and hospital management teams, section heads and board members to refine priorities and ensure proposed interventions respond to the hospital’s actual healthcare needs.

Presiding over the session, Promotive and Preventive Health Chief Officer Dr Billy Lubanga challenged the hospital leadership to put patients at the centre of the plan.

The five-year plan seeks to provide a framework for improving access to safe, timely, affordable and person-centred healthcare, while strengthening service delivery, workforce capacity, internal processes and responsible resource management.

Director of Medical Services Dr Evans Kiprotich urged the leadership to ensure the plan translates into tangible results.

“The focus must be on quality healthcare and ensuring the proposed interventions translate into improved service delivery and better patient outcomes,” Dr Kiprotich said.

On his part, Promotive and Preventive Health Director Laban Kiprop emphasized the need for clarity on the facility’s core mandate.

He said there is need for clear specifications defining the hospital’s role as a diagnostic and emergency care centre, noting that effective patient management and clearly defined service standards would help protect the hospital’s reputation and strengthen public confidence.
