Eldoret, the newest city in Kenya, is among the urban centres with the highest concentration of institutions of higher learning.
From colleges to universities, these institutions have been pivotal in the growth of the fifth city.
As of 2024, the population of Eldoret is estimated to be around 464,5701. This makes it one of the largest urban areas in Kenya. The city has seen significant growth over the years, reflecting its importance as a regional commercial and educational hub.
Which universities have their campuses in Eldoret
Uasin Gishu County is generally home to two main campuses of public universities: Moi University in Kesses and the University of Eldoret in Chepkoilel, Moiben.
However, there are several other campuses within the Eldoret city.
Mount Kenya University Eldoret campus
Mount Kenya University is one of the biggest private institution of higher learning.
It has its Eldoret Campus at MKU Plaza along Ronald Ngala Street within the Eldoret City centre.
Moi University, School of Information Science
Aside from it ‘s main campus in Kesses, over 40 kilometres from the CBD, Moi University also has a campus in the city, mainly for the Information Science and the School of Medicine.
The campus is located next to Moi Teaching and Refferal Hospital.
University of Eldoret
UoE also has an Eldoret City campus within Eldoret city, opposite Sirikwa Hotel.
Catholic University of Eastern Africa – GABA Campus
The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) has its main campus in Lang’ata – Nairobi.
Its Eldoret campus – commonly reffered to us Gaba Campus is located along Eldoret-Kapsabet highway, near The Eldoret Polytechnic.
Kisii University Eldoret campus
This is another university with a campus in Eldoret city.
Initially, it had its campus located at its own compound in Kapsoya estate before moving to the current location as Sagaas Building in the CBD, opposite AIC Fellowship.
