Eldoret has in recent days been regarded as one of the educational hubs not only in the North Rift region but nationally.
The town has two universities with their main campuses – Moi University and the University of Eldoret.
Several other universities like Mount Kenya University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) and Kisii University also have their campuses in the town.
Aside from the universities, Eldoret also have at least 10 private middle-level learning institutions.
But in case you’re a parent or a student and you don’t totally believe in private colleges, there are several public ones to pick from.

The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP)
The Eldoret National Polytechnic located along Eldoret-Kapsabet Road, about 15 minutes drive from the Eldoret town centre is a TVETA-accredited public institution.
It offers mainly technical courses among them Applied Sciences, Chemical Technology, Computing and IT, Civil and Building Technology, Electrical Engineering as well as Hospitality.
Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI)
Rift Valley Technical Training institute (RVTTI) is a public technical training institute located along Eldoret-Kaptagat road.
The institution offers Artisan, Craft, Diploma and Higher Diploma Courses with a bias toward practical industrial applications.
It is the East African Community Center of Excellence in TVET and also among the pilot institutions for the Competency-based education and training programme(CBET).
Kenya Medical Training College Eldoret Campus
The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Eldoret Campus is located next to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).
It was established in 1977 as a School of Nursing, training Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nursing (KECHN).
Some of the courses that the KMTC Eldoret campus offers include a Diploma in Nursing, Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Medical Imaging Sciences and Medical Engineering as well as a Higher Diploma in Anaesthesia.
The campus also offers Certificate in Medical Engineering.
MTRH College of Medicine
This is an Accredited Training School run by the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital – a public health facility.
The College began in 2004 as an Enrolled Community Nurse Training Centre and in the year 2009, other programs started including Kenya Registered Nursing, Health Records and HIV Counselling Courses.
Some of the courses the college offers include a Higher Diploma in Accident & Emergency Nursing, Nephrology Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Perioperative Nursing and Oncology Nursing.
Other courses offered at the MTRH College of Medicine are Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery as well as Health Informatics.
