A section of residents of Matisi area in Saboti Constituency, Trans Nzoia County has lauded Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha’s order to transfer Matisi Police Station OCS.
Led by Dennis Syambi, the residents said it was long overdue to transfer the OCS saying despite complaints from residents, no action had been taken against the culprits.
“Members of the feared Russia gang are known, reports have been made at the police station but no action has been taken to arrest and charge them,” Siambi said.
Ronald Wafula on his part said the densely populated area lags behind in terms of development because of the presence of criminal gangs in the area.
“We fully endorse the decision taken by CS Nakhumicha because the officers have been condoning crime which has made potential investors to run away,” Wafula said.
Further, Anyolo Isaac, stated that seeing a problem and not correcting it because it is not in one’s docket is being irresponsible.
He said the CS was right to order for the transfer of the OCS although it was not her docket.

According to the locals, the decision meant the CS was concerned about their security.
Collude with criminals
While welcoming the decision, Phancy Mukhwana, also a local said all the police officers attached to the station should be transferred as a way of bringing lasting solution to insecurity in the region.
“We have realized that all the officers in Matisi Police Station collude with criminals who enjoy round the clock protection from security agencies,” she said.
Similar sentiments were shared by Jane Nafula who said the OCS was the root cause of Matisi area’s insecurity where several business premised most have been robbed in the recent past.
Matisi is one of the areas in Trans Nzoia County where criminals domicile.
During campaigns, politicians normally bribe some youths to access the area.
Insecurity in the area is linked to high rate of unemployment, drugs and substances abuse, school drop out amongst the teenagers because of poverty and the high cost of living.
