The Ministry of Health has announced posting of over 6,000 medical interns.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said the interns will be posted from July 1, 2025.
Duale said the posting of interns is in line with the government’s commitment to ensure their timely deployment.
“The interns will be deployed to accredited internship centres where they will undertake a 12-month structured internship programme designed to promote supervised clinical training and practical exposure in real world healthcare setting,” the CS said.

Breakdown of medical interns government has deployed
Of those deployed, 1,147 are medical officer interns, 87 dentist interns, pharmacist intern (500), Bsc Clinical Officer intern (569) and 1993 clinical officer intern (Diploma).
2098 Bsc nursing Officer intern will also be deployed under the 2025/2026 internship cohort.
Eligible pre-interns have been advised to collect their posting letters on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Ministry of Health headquarters at Afya House, Nairobi.
“Please note that posting letters will only be issued upon presentation of a valid National Identity card,” the ministry said.

Posting of medical interns has been one of the issued that the Kenya Medical Practitioners,. Pharmacist and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has been pushing for.
