Mount Kenya University will participate in the Tinderet Barng’etuny Mountain Run National Championship, scheduled for January 17, 2026, as part of its continued commitment to supporting sports and creative arts among the youth.
In support of the event, the university has contributed Ksh 1 million to the organisers as financial sponsorship for the marathon.
The MKU’s Principal – Corporate Services, Prof. Peter Wanderi, presented a dummy cheque to the Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, and Children Services, Hanna Wendot Cheptumo, in support of the event.
Tinderet MP Julius K. Melly was present during the presentation.
The mountain run seeks to support key social causes, including education and environmental conservation, aligning with Mount Kenya University’s broader mission of promoting community development, youth empowerment, and sustainable initiatives.
This will mark the second consecutive year Mount Kenya University is participating in the mountain run.
In the previous edition, the University sponsored both staff and students to take part in the race in support of the noble cause.
