The Uasin Gishu Alcoholic Drinks and Control Board has intensified fight against illegal sale of counterfeit alcohol and other restricted substances in Eldoret City.
On Monday, January 12, 2026, the board led by it’s chairperson Koiya Arap Maiyo, conducted a major operation targeting bus stages.
Those targeted were Tagore Stage, Iten Stage, Main Stage, and Trocadero Stage.
The operation included detailed inspections and enforcement actions against unlicensed vendors, and second generation alcohol

During the operation, Maiyo and a multi-agency team from the Alcoholic Drinks Control Board (ADCB), issued a firm warning to owners of wine and spirit shops in the Central Business District (CBD).
He strictly prohibited them from supplying alcoholic beverages to entertainment venues and bus terminals across the city, stressing that such actions are vital for reducing accidents and enhancing public safety.
The board’s chairperson noted that this order could cut alcohol-related traffic accidents by nearly 50 perfect.

He also reaffirmed his dedication to enforcing the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act, warning that any business violating these regulations would face serious penalties, including license revocation.
The operation is part of the Uasin Gishu County’s resolve to uphold law and order in the alcohol sector and protect residents’ well-being.
