A team from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) is in Nandi County to inspect health facilities aimed at recategorization following upgrades in infrastructure and staffing.
The team led by Dr. Musa Kiptanui, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, began inspections at Serem Health Centre and Kobujoi Health Centre, both earmarked for elevation to Level 4 facilities.
These visits mark a key step in enhancing service delivery at the grassroots level.
In a courtesy call to Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Dr. Kiptanui’s team received strong backing for the initiative.

Governor Sang emphasized the urgent need to strengthen the county’s health system through targeted investments in infrastructure expansion, equipment, and staffing.
“We must ensure the health needs of our population are fully addressed,” he stated.
The governor further thanked KMPDC for its supportive role in the process, praising the council’s shift from a purely policing approach to one of cooperation.
This partnership, he noted, will accelerate facility improvements across the county.

Additional facilities slated for inspection include Chepkongony Dispensary, Ol’lessos Model Health Center, Kombe Dispensary, Kapsisiywa Dispensary, and Kapkangani Health Center.

Successful recategorization could bring advanced services closer to residents, reducing pressure on higher-level hospitals.
County health officials expressed optimism that these upgrades will boost access to quality care, aligning with devolved health mandates.
