MTRH FC Edge Out Nakuru Senators in Friendly

The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Football Club (MTRH FC) narrowly edged out Nakuru Senators in an entertaining Wazee Premier League (WPL) friendly match held at the Eldoret Sports Club.

Hosts, MTRH FC scored early on in the game and managed to hold on to the win up to the 90th minute.

Erick Mokaya netted the only goal in the 7th minute.

Nakuru Senators had however dominated possession in the game and blamed the poor state of the pitch and being unlucky for the loss.

We had a good game, only that we were not lucky. We possessed the ball up to 70 percent. MTRH got one chance in the seventh minute and they scored. We are used to playing on a carpet but this field has not been favorable for us,” said Fredrick Towet, a Nakuru Senators player.

With the win, MTRH FC Team Manager Steve Kung’u said they have set their eyes on the WPL title.

Last season we finished at position 4 but for this year, we are aiming to be the champions,” Kung’u told Uasin Gishu News.

He also challenged the county government of Uasin Gishu to consider being the team’s sponsor.

Makueni is sponsored by County Government of Makueni, Nakuru Senators is sponsored by the County Government of Nakuru, but here we have not gotten any sponsorship from county government of Uasin Gishu. It has not sponsored any other team,” noted the MTRH Team Manager.

MTRH FC also beat Mambuyu FC 3-2.

In other matches, Eldoret Mambuyu won 1-0 against Nakuru Senators where Hezeon Ochieng scored the only goal.

Nakuru Senators best Jua Kali 2-0.

A.C Wote from Makueni County and Jua Kali Legends FC played out to a barren draw.

MTRH FC used the friendliest to prepare for a two-day tournament that will be staged in Mombasa during the Easter holiday and Wazee Premier League (WPL).

Teams Kakamega, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu, Mombasa among others are expected to participate.
