Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has shared details of his would-be last moments with immediate former Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut.
Chepkut died on Saturday morning after what has been reported that he collapsed at his house.
Following the former MP’s demise, Kenyans of all walks of life have been sharing their messages of condolences on various social media pages.
In his message, Murkomen revealed that he had met Chepkut on Friday evening and that he was in a very jovial mood.

“Last evening I met Hon. William Chepkut in the company of his friends. He was in a very jovial mood. In his characteristic manner he showered me with many praises using all the superlatives in the book,” noted the vocal Senator.
Further, Murkomen revealed that during their brief engagement, they agreed to meet soon and discuss a number of issues that would have benefited locals in his constituency, among them related to infrastructure, a docket he has been nominated to be the Cabinet Secretary.
“When we parted last night at 8PM we agreed to meet soon to discuss matters Infrastructure. I didn’t know it was going to be the last time with him,” noted the Transport and Infrastructure CS nominee.
He described the late former legislator as ‘a very lovely guy’ who was extremely connected.
“William was a very lovely guy. Extremely connected. Loyal to his seniors almost to a fault. Fare thee well Hon. William Chepkut,” Murkomen said.
The two have had a close relationship, and the Senator was among politicians that visited the MP in hospital last year.

Chepkut was hospitalized for several months prior to the August 9 general election campaigns after an accident that left his legs injured.
