Nandi County Dominates KICOSCA Races In Meru

Nandi County athletes dominated middle and long distance races at the 10th edition of the KICOSCA Games on Friday that went down at Kinoru Stadium in Meru County.

The team set best leads, meeting records and winning several events.

Kelvin Kiprono, dominated the men’s 10km race. Kiprono receiving cheers from fans lined up on the course, stepped in the lead after the first round and enjoyed the lead until the finish line. Gilbert Kosgei came home third behind Bomet County’s Gilbert Sang who closed the gap coming in second position.

Keneth Yegon won 5000m men’s race and position 3 in 1500m race whiie Barnabas Kosgei wa ls position 5 in 5000m men.

In 3000m, Daniel Cheruiyot came second while Eliazar Kiprop finished at position 5.

Further, Timon Kosgei (Sungura) won in 100m hits to storm into the finals and came 3rd in men’s triple jump.

Dickson Bett finished 4 in Men’s Javelin whereas Timon Bwambok was 5th in Discus throw Mens category.

Nandi County also reigned supreme in the Women’s 1500m and 800m with Jacinta Jepkoech dominating both races.

Under the Persons With Disability (PWDs) category, the Women team continued with their dominance with Violet Bitok winning both in Discus throw and Shot Put while Josephine Jepkemboi won in her Short put category.

In the 3,000 women race, Edith Jerop finished at position 3.

A new entrant in the Tricycle competition Moses Tuwei participated actively and came in the 6th position.

The event was graced by the Nanduli County Secretary Dr Francis Sang, the CEC for Transport and Infrastructure Eng Drice Rono and his Administration counterpart Isaiah Ketter, Director for Sports Daniel Rutto and Transport and Infrastructure Director Kemei.
