Uasin Gishu Bags Bronze Medal at Inter-county Games

The County Government of Uasin Gishu clinched bronze medal at the 10th edition of Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) in Meru County.

The Meru KICOSCA assignment, which brought together 40 counties fielding teams in up to 20 disciplines, saw Uasin Gishu emerge third overall.

The bronze position is a giant improvement from last year’s 5th position, when the games were held in Kisumu County.

An elated Governor Bii received the news with a big smile.

I had faith they (staff) will do us good. My government values sports and overall, a motivated personnel. Hongera team UG, we have again proved that they are the Champions,” said Governor Bii.

The Champions as they fondly refer themselves to, won position one in volleyball (having taken both men and women’s titles), athletics overall 2nd ( (women 1st, men 3rd), 2nd in Ajua, 2nd in pool, Position, 3rd in choir (Isikuti) and set piece 6th.

Under the captaincy of Governor Bii, the County government staff also placed 5th in folk dance, 8th in table tennis, 8th in soccer, 2nd in golf and 5th in darts.

The other results are badminton (8th), basketball men (8th), basketball women (8th), tug of war ladies (8th), tug of war men (8th) as well as drafts 6th.
