The County Government of Nandi, through the Department of Education and Vocational Training, has partnered with Karebe Gold Mine to construct Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers in Chemelil/Chemase Ward.
This collaboration aims to address the inadequate infrastructure and facilities in the ECDE centers, thereby improving the learning environment for young children.
Karebe Gold Mine, in line with its social responsibility mandate, is currently constructing an ECDE center at St. Paul’s Kamuny.

Plans are also underway to build additional classrooms at Chemase Boarding, Kapsigilai, Chepswerta, Kiptiongin, and Chemalal Primary Schools.
During the official laying of the foundation stone at St. Paul’s Kamuny, Reney Kirwa, the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Education and Vocational Training, expressed appreciation to Karebe Gold Mine for their significant contribution to the community.
She also encouraged all ECDE teachers across the county to provide quality education, emphasizing their role in guiding children’s social, emotional, and physical development in their education journey
Jeremy Froome, Director of Karebe Gold Mining, described the construction of ECDE classrooms as a pivotal step towards offering quality education and creating a conducive learning environment for young learners.

He also noted that investing in these classrooms is an investment in the society’s future.
This partnership exemplifies the positive impact of public-private collaborations in advancing educational development and improving community welfare.
