Oburu Oginga Meets Uasin Gishu ODM Delegates in Eldoret, Rallies Youth to Register as Voters

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Oburu Oginga has rallied the youth to register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.

According to Oburu, who doubles up as the Siaya Senator, the young people should ensure they take part in electing leaders in the upcoming elections.

He also said they will continue to support the broad-based government where his late brother, Raila Odinga, left them.

Similar sentiments were shared by ODM Deputy Party leader Simba Arati, who noted that they are not in the opposition as insinuated by some party members and officials.

Arati also said the Orange party is still intact and that they are very ready for any eventuality.

They spoke during a meeting with Uasin Gishu ODM delegates in Eldoret.

The Kisii governor noted that with Eldoret being a cosmopolitan city, all residents in the area should accommodate every tribe.

Will ODM partner with UDA in 2027?

He also expressed optimism that the ODM-UDA partnership will form a formidable political vehicle going into the 2027 General Election.

We will be super powerful if we join hands with President William Ruto and organise ourselves because ODM is a national party, same as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA),” Arati said.

He also challenged ODM members to remain fearless and steadfast despite criticisms of their involvement and partnership with the government.

During the meeting, a section of youth and persons with disabilities expressed concerns over unequal employment opportunities, which they called on the ODM party leadership to help address while being in the broad-based government.

Kevin Oyoo, one of the youth leaders, noted that there is a need for the government to provide equal opportunities for members of the minority groups.

People living with disability also lamented that they feel sidelined and that sometimes they are forced to use their money to buy assistive devices.

Earlier in the day, the ODM leaders paid a courtesy visit to Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim.

Our County of Champions is truly unique, defined by its rich diversity and the peaceful coexistence of communities that give it a vibrant, cosmopolitan character,” Bii said after the meeting.
