Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has asked Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago to drop his plans to vie for the Senate seat in 2022, and instead join Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential campaign trail.
Sudi says, Mandago, having served as county boss for two terms should now be focusing on national politics and not jostle for the ‘smaller’ Senate seat.
Speaking on Sunday, during an event in the county, the vocal MP noted that Mandago should leave the Senate seat to youthful aspirants like lawyer Kipchumba Karori and broadcaster Arap Kemei.

“When you are an assistant chief, you move up to being chief, them D.O, DC, etc. moving upwards not the other way round,” Sudi said, largely speaking in the native language, insinuating that Mandago’s interest for the Senate was a downgrade.
For Sudi, Mandago should be taking the lead in campaigning for Ruto across the country so that once he wins the presidency, he will be appointed a Cabinet Secretary.
“Mandago atoke aende aombe kura western, eastern…azunguke kama wanaume wengine, hii ya hapa aachie hawa vijana,” Sudi said.

Mandago has already responded to Sudi, accusing him of inciting locals against his Senatorial bid.
According to the county boss, he has the right to vie for any seat he wishes to, and that it is up to the people to make a decision of electing a person they feel fit.
