Police officers in Eldoret town are hunting for a man suspected to be behind cultivation of bhang in a leafy suburb of Elgon View Estate.
A police report filed at Langas Police station indicate that the bhang had been cultivated in a bungalow within the estate.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) raided the house after receiving intelligence report.

“A combined team of police officers accompanied by the area local chief Sammy Meli raided a Bungalow House plot No. 810 situated within Tumaini Close, Elgon view Estate within the outskirts of Eldoret Township,” read part of the report.
Upon gaining entry, a search was conducted within the main house consisting of six bedrooms where the bhang was found.
21 cannabis plants were discovered in the main bedroom, the leaving room had 68 cannabis plants, dining room (14 plants) and the adjacent iron walled house had 26 cannabis plants.
“The two buildings had been converted as green houses,” notes the police report.

During the raid, personal documents in the name of Kipchumba Michael Kibet, who is the main suspect were found alongside an abstract of loss of KCSE certificate and national identity card, KCSE result slip, Moi university student clearance report dated 22/8/2020, and a payment slip in respect of chemicals bought by the said suspects.
“All plants have been uprooted after having been documented by CSI Eldoret,” noted the police.
The total weight of the plants is 33.5 Kgs with a street value of Ksh1.005,000.
