Egerton University Sets Date for 50th Graduation Ceremony, Releases Key Deadlines for 2026 Graduands

Egerton University has officially announced that its landmark 50th Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, November 27, 2026, at its Njoro Campus, marking a major milestone in the institution’s history.

In a notice to students who have qualified for the conferment of degrees and the award of diplomas during the 2025/2026 academic year, the university said the ceremony will commence at 8:30 a.m., with all graduands and guests expected to be seated by 8:00 a.m.

The university has urged prospective graduands to adhere strictly to a series of deadlines aimed at ensuring a smooth graduation process and timely preparation of certificates.

Graduands have been advised to confirm their examination results by contacting their respective Deans’ offices starting September 14, 2026. The results will also be accessible through the student portal.

Egerton University graduation application process

All students admitted from 2015 onwards will be required to apply for graduation online through the student portal. The process begins with applying for financial clearance under the “Clearance Application” section by October 9, 2026.

Postgraduate students must also obtain clearance from the Board of Postgraduate Studies.

Upon receiving financial clearance, students must complete their graduation application through the “Graduation Application” section by October 23, 2026.

Egerton University graduation and alumni fees

Egerton University has directed all prospective graduands to pay the required graduation fees through the eCitizen platform before applying for financial clearance.

According to the university, PhD graduands will pay a total of KSh 8,500, comprising academic dress fees of KSh 2,000, alumni fees of KSh 1,000 and convocation fees of KSh 5,500.

Master’s graduands will pay KSh 7,000, while Bachelor’s degree graduands will pay KSh 6,500. Diploma graduands will be required to pay KSh 6,000.

The university emphasised that all payments must be made through the student portal’s E-payment section, which is linked to the eCitizen platform, before students seek clearance from the Finance Department.

Prospective graduands have also been advised to verify that their names appear correctly in the order they wish them to be printed on their certificates and that they match the names appearing on their KCSE certificates.

Additionally, the university warned that any corrections requested after certificate processing will attract additional charges.

Academic Dress and Rehearsal

Graduands participating in the ceremony must wear full academic attire. Graduation gowns will be available for collection from respective faculties beginning November 25, 2026, after completion of the required forms.

The university further directed that all hired gowns must be returned by December 14, 2026, failing which a penalty of KSh 500 per day will be imposed.

A mandatory graduation rehearsal has been scheduled for Thursday, November 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Students intending to participate in the ceremony must attend the rehearsal, having cleared all fees and dressed in full academic regalia.

Invitation cards will be available for download through the student portal, while gown requisition forms and invitation cards are expected to be accessible by November 20, 2026.

The university will also activate a dedicated graduation portal from November 23, 2026, where graduands, parents and guardians will access the graduation programme, booklet, etiquette guide, livestream details, speakers’ profiles and frequently asked questions.

According to the notice, the provisional graduation list will be published on October 19, 2026, while the final graduation booklet and graduation etiquette guide will be available online from November 23, 2026.

University officials encouraged graduands to regularly visit the institution’s website and graduation portal for updates and additional information regarding the historic 50th graduation ceremony.
