The Paediatric Ophthalmology Centre and the Sabatia Eye Training Centre at the Sabatia Eye Hospital in Sabatia, Vihiga County were inaugurated on Saturday.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Cabinet Secretary for Health Nakhumicha S. Wafula among other top government officials.

The Paediatric Ophthalmology Centre has a primary focus on providing accessible and affordable eye care services to children in Western Kenya and the surrounding areas.
In addition, the center has been specifically designed to create a safe and child-friendly environment, ensuring that young patients feel comfortable and at ease during their visits.

Further, the Sabatia Eye Training Centre has been established to address the issue of blindness in Kenya by training a larger number of eye specialists.
The goal of this center is to increase the pool of qualified professionals who can effectively treat various eye conditions and significantly contribute to reducing blindness throughout the country.
