President William Ruto has signed into law the County Allocation Revenue Bill, 2023 and the Equalisation Fund Appropriation Bill, 2023.
The two Bills will enable the 47 devolved units to access funds in the new financial year that begins tomorrow, July 1, 2023.
The County Allocation Revenue Act allocates counties Ksh385.4 billion in shareable revenue.
Nairobi County Government will get the highest allocation of Ksh20.07 billion.

The Equalisation Fund Act appropriates Ksh10.3 Billion for basic services — such as water, roads, electricity and health — to marginalised areas in the country.
Present at the Friday function that was held at State House, Nairobi, were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Speaker of the Senate Amason Kingi, Attorney General Justin Muturi and Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, among others.
County Assemblies across the country have this week been hosting Finance County Executives for the presentation of budget estimates that are based on an allocation they anticipate receiving from the national government and own-source revenue collection.
Some of the Assemblies have since adopted the budget, among them Trans Nzoia.
In Nairobi, Finance CECM Charles Kerich presented the Ksh42.3 billion budget on Thursday, out of which they anticipated receiving Ksh21.3 billion from the National Government.
Uasin Gishu’s Micah Rogony presented the Ksh9.8 billion budget on Tuesday with Ksh8.4 expected from the national government.
