Prof. Violet Naanyu: Moi University Associate Professor Appointed to WHO Technical Advisory Board

A Moi University associate professor has landed a major global role at the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations which coordinates responses to international public health issues and emergencies.

It is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and has 6 regional offices and 150 field offices worldwide.

Prof. Violet Naanyu, is now set to join the WHO’s Technical Advisory Board.

According to a statement by the Uasin Gishu-based public university, Prof Naanyu was recently appointed to the position.

Moi University said her appointment reflects her profound contribution to global health research and health systems strengthening.

Her voice will be instrumental in shaping global health strategies and advancing evidence-informed policy at the highest level,” Moi University said in a statement.

This remarkable recognition reflects Prof. Naanyu’s profound contributions to global health research, bioethics, and health systems strengthening—especially in resource-limited settings,” it added.

The institution further said the appointment was well-deserved for Prof Naanyu.

Her work continues to inspire excellence and impact in the field of public health and ethics,” it added.

A Technical Advisory Board or Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is a group of experts who provide guidance and advice to an organization on technical matters.

The boards typically consist of individuals with specialized knowledge and experience in a particular field, who offer their expertise to help an organization make informed decisions.
